When I saw Charlotte from thegoodavocado on instagram had tried radish in her smoothie bowl I was both intrigued and impressed. I like to think I’m pretty adventurous in my use of vegetables, for example cauliflower in my oats. But I’ve never tried radish in anything other than a salad!
Of course, I had to ask her for the recipe, and boy did she deliver!
Char says ” I’ve been experimenting with adding different foods to my usual smoothie bowl and under the recommendation of my sister added radish one morning and found it gave a spicy kick to my bowl. To intensify it a little I’ve been playing around with the addition of ginger as well and found that when paired with sweeter fruits such as apple and mango it balances out quite nicely.
Both radishes and ginger are packed full of antioxidants and ginger has the added bonus of being amazing for aiding digestion.
Radish and ginger antioxidant smoothie recipe
To make this super easy smoothie bowl I blended:
- 4 small radishes
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- ½ cup frozen mango
- ½ a banana
- ½ cup cold pressed apple juice
- ½ cup water
- ½ teaspoon of ground ginger (you could always use a couple of pieces of fresh ginger though)
Once blended I decorated with swirls of coconut yoghurt and slices of fresh ginger and radish for some crunch but feel free to add your favourite toppings.”
