I was nominated for a Leibster Award and would like to take this chance for you to get to know me better.

Let me explain a little more about the Liebster Award. It’s sort of like a chain letter passed around by new bloggers. You will be sent 10 questions to answer, then you have to nominate up to ten other bloggers and pose them 10 questions (you can use the same ones you’ve been asked or make up your own).

I’ve been nominated twice. First by Suncana over at sweatandyoga, a yogi who’s blog is packed full of health, fitness and well-being tips. My second nomination was from Will at greencooking, a 16 year old passionate foodie and new blogger.

I’m so excited to have been nominated because it means that people are reading my blog and enjoying the content.


Questions from Suncana

Given the option only to pick one way to sweat which would it be?
If I could only pick one type of exercise it would be high intensity interval training with body weight exercises- e.g. squat jumps and knee highs. I really enjoy the exercises and like pushing myself to get out of breath. I haven’t been doing a lot recently, but I’ve found it’s the most effective way  for me to tone up.

Do you like saunas?
I’m not such a fan of saunas, I prefer the steam room.

Do you have an affirmation/meditation practice? If so.. elaborate..
Not a regular one, although I think it would be beneficial if I did.

What is the thing you have to do in a day to detox? Your day does not feel complete if you do not do it.
Drinking lemon water in the morning. It’s such a habit now that I don’t even think about doing it. I can tell the difference in my body if I can’t have it for some reason.

Do you green juice?
Yes- I love to green juice (or more accurately ‘smoothie‘ since I don’t have a juicer)! At first I couldn’t stand the overpowering taste of kale, but then I learnt to add lime juice to tone it down (like in this recipe). I also love to add wheatgrass to my smoothies.

If you could choose one smell to smell forever what would it be?
Mint. It’s very refreshing and not sickly.

If you could go back in time and tell your brand new business or blogger self something what would you tell them?
Start sooner. I absolutely love blogging- I’ve met so many wonderful people, had so many new opportunities and become much more confident.

Do you have a goals/rewards system in place for yourself? If so what is your big hairy audacious goal for 2016 ?
Actually I don’t have a goal! I’m much more productive when I set goals, but I’m quite happy just relaxing and bobbing along at the moment. Sometimes having goals makes me stressed if I don’t think I’m achieving them quick enough!

What is your favourite book?
My favourite book is my sparkly watermelon journal.

A perfect Saturday night is spent doing what?
Watching a film or tv series while I’m snuggling next to my boyfriend on the sofa. We’ve got into a bit of a routine recently.

Do you have a bad habit you are looking to break?
Snacking immediately after dinner- before I’ve had time to let it go down!!

Questions from Will

What made you decide to start blogging?
My boyfriend encouraged me to start blogging because I was always talking to him about food and new recipes I’d created. I spent a lot of time reading health & fitness, food and lifestyle blogs and in October 2015 decided to take the leap and start Healthy & Psyched.

What would your ideal job be?
My ideal job would be doing something I enjoy. I’d love to be a professional blogger, recipe creator and start my business selling healthy vegan desserts- but that’s a long way off!

What is your favourite meal?
Breakfast is my favourite meal. I love smoothies, porridge, overnight oats, pancakes… just every plant-based breakfast food really!

What type of music do you like?
I tend to listen to chart music. And I’ve got to confess I love Justin Biebers new album!

Do you do any sports, and if so, what do you do?
I did competitive lifesaving for 12 years, but now I just keep fit by going to the gym or doing body weight workouts at home.

Do you have any funny facts about yourself?
I can be quite serious most of the time. Let’s see…. at least once a week I walk to work with breakfast on my face. If I’ve got too much smoothie to fit in my bowl I’ll drink it out of the blender and usually it gets on my face! I’ll have to change my morning routine to wash my face after breakfast!

If you could go on holiday anywhere for a week, starting tomorrow, where would you go?
Anywhere with delicious fresh fruit, brilliant sunshine and a nice quiet beach. I also love to go to places where I can get lost in nature and see animals in the wild.

What is your favourite type of weather?
Nice sunshine but not too hot. I can’t help but be happy when the sun’s shining.

Do you have an idol – if you do, who is it?
Hum…. I’m not sure that I do. I like to get inspiration from lots of different people that I meet and who are passionate about something and/or good at what they do.

Do you love or hate marmite?
Love it. I made myself like it because my dad used to eat it on toast when I was little and I wanted to eat his toast. When I was in my least year of my undergrad I used to make myself a wrap with marmite, spinach and mushrooms to take to uni almost every day.
