CONFESSION – I get super excited to try every new protein powder and I just can’t help but buy / accept one for review even thought my cupboard is already over flowing! So naturally , when PlantWarrior asked me to review their 100% vegan and gluten-free chocolate flavoured Superfood Protein Powder, I said YES! This is a sponsored post, but the views are my own.
Do what did I think about it?
Review: PlantWarrior Superfood Protein Powder

One of the first things that I check when buying a new protein powder is the nutritional information. I prefer protein powders that contain over 15g of vegan protein per serving and that don’t contain any artifical flavourings or sweeteners. PlantWarrior Superfood Protein ticks those boxes.
PlantWarrior is a blend of 5 natural and high protein foods (Rice, Quinoa, Pea, Chia and Hemp), giving it 18g of protein per 25g serving. The unusual blend of ingredients means that, unlike many vegan protein powders on the market, PlantWarrior has all 9 essential amino acids that your body needs to function! It is also gluten and dairy free, with under 100 calories per serving. The product is totally natural and sweetened with stevia
– a zero calorie
, zero GI
sweetener, which is 300 times sweeter than sugar.
If you take a look at the ingredients list you will also notice the addition of guar fibre. If you’re not quite sure what that is then don’t worry. I wasn’t sure either so I asked David from PlantWarrior. He said “Guar Gum it is a natural thickener (made from Guar Beans) to help the protein form a nice smooth texture when added with water or milk. Without it, protein powders can be quite dry and grainy when used in shakes. It is a premium [natural] ingredient … We try to make the best product possible over here :)”
Overall I enjoyed the taste of the chocolate flavoured PlantWarrior Superfood Protein Powder. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and the taste of the different types of protein powders wasn’t too overpowering. Although, I would have preferred it to be a stronger chocolate taste – when I buy something chocolate flavoured I want it ‘double-chocolate-brownie’ level of flavour rather than a more subtle taste! Surprisingly it did taste nice when I mixed a scoop with just water though!
Vegan protein powder is often criticised for having a grainy texture. I was really pleased with how finely ground the PlantWarrior protein is and how well it mixed into just water. That said, if you make it into a protein shake using just water / plant milk you will need to drink it immediately otherwise the protein powder will start to sink to the bottom.
PlantWarrior Superfood Protein is currently selling at £24.99 for 500 grams with free shipping in the UK. I’d say that is slightly more than most of the vegan protein blends on the market, but I think that you get what you pay for. This is a good quality product with premium ingredients so you would expect to pay a bit more.
One small negative…
I dislike the smell of the PlantWarrior Protein blend. Luckily the smell isn’t noticeable when it’s blended into a smoothie or mixed into oats. I’m not sure what in particular I don’t like, perhaps the hemp protein – I once had a bag of white hemp protein from another company and I hated the smell so much I ended up throwing it away. I asked my friend @charlotteemmma
and she said “I didn’t find it too offensive. I remember thinking it didn’t smell of much”.
