Last week I attended an exercise and nutrition event hosted at UNiDAYS HQ to celebrate their 25% discount for students on the Results with Lucy online exercise and nutrition programs. It was such an amazing day and I left feeling inspired to get back on track with my health and fitness.
WHAT IS UNIDAYS?
myunidays.com is a website that gives students FREE access to discount codes for top brands and restaurants when shopping online. You will need to register for an account so that they can confirm that you’re a student but after that it is easy to login and find discount codes.
I registered for UNiDAYS as soon as I became a student again last year.
WHAT IS RESULTS WITH LUCY?
Results with Lucy was started by Lucy Mecklenburgh (you may have seen her in TOWIE or in a magazine) and her personal trainer Cecilia. Lucy told us how she used to live on a diet of biscuits, sandwiches, pasta and cocktails before realising that this made her feel awful and that she needed to change her lifestyle. She found Cecila through a friend and they started training together. After just a few weeks Lucy saw results and started to look and feel better.
Instead of bring out just another celebrity workout DVD they decided to create an online program where people could access workout videos, nutritional advice and meal plans. There are workout plans aimed at different levels from beginners to hard core, so you can start at the level that suits you. There is also the option to subscribe to the videos on a monthly basis and a special student package.
UNIDAYS BLOGGER EVENT
The day started with a talk from Louise, the nutritionist on the Results with Lucy programs. She was very keen to emphasise that Results with Lucy isn’t based on a fad diet or removing any of the major food groups – we shouldn’t be afraid of carbs and should focus on the good old fashioned advice of everything in moderation and focusing on natural rather than processed foods. Louise emphasised that we’re all different and should make positive changes to our diet in a way that suits us. For example, you might want to go cold-turkey on processed foods whereas your friend might prefer to gradually cut down, or vice versa.
Next we began our workout with Celia, the PT. This was my favourite part of the day. Celia had such amazing energy, which I found really motivating. We started with squats and moved onto arms exercises then abs for a full body workout. It was nice to do some new exercises and I was working up a sweat by the end of it despite not doing a single burpee.
Finally we had lunch (see here) and a more casual chat. I was nice to hear more about Lucy. Despite looking gorgeous and running several businesses she was very down to earth.
The day ended with goodie bags!!
I had such a great time at the event and wanted to blog about it as soon as I got home, but I thought it might be more helpful for you reading the post if I actually tried a few of the Results with Lucy online workouts.
RESULTS WITH LUCY FREE WORKOUTS & RECIPES
On the website there is an option to access 3 free workouts from each plan and view a selection of recipes.
So far I have tried 2 workouts from the ‘Wobble to Model’ program. The workout is split into smaller sections, for example, a warm up, toning section, cardio and abs. There are a variety of trainers on the program not just Celia, which I was a bit disappointed about at first because I love Celia but I found that they were all likable as well.
I think the intermediate level was perfect for me, I could feel the burn by the last few reps of an exercise but I didn’t feel like I was absolutely killing myself. After just 2 sessions I’m sure I felt more toned, which is quite amazing! At the UNiDAYS event, Lucy said that she typically sticks to the intermediate levels of the program, so that gives me confidence that I would see results by doing these workouts.
The only thing that I don’t like is that you buy access to a program for a set amount of time rather than download it to keep forever. This might just be because I am used to buying exercise guides that come as a pdf with photos of the exercises.
Overall, I think these guides would be great for someone looking to get back into health and fitness because each exercise is explained well in the videos and the trainers help to count the number of reps for you. It would also be good for someone looking for more motivation – I find that videos are a lot more engaging than a printed exercise guide and you can become part of the #RWL community.
