Want a delicious creamy smoothie that tastes like American milkshakes without dairy milk or empty calories? Then you have to try this recipe.
Usually I like to go all out adding various fruit and superfood powders to my smoothie. But not this time!!
I’ve created a super creamy smoothie with a slight caramel biscuit taste. Sounds naughty and tastes naughty but the ‘creamy’ taste comes from the frozen bananas, rice milk and protein powder. The ‘caramel biscuit’ taste comes from almond butter, vanilla and a tiny bit of coconut sugar. The great texture comes from ice.
The almond butter provides healthy fats, a dose of protein and lots of vitamins. For example, vitamin E which is great for your skin. The protein powder makes this smoothie more filling and satisfying.

Banana & Almond Butter Protein Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 frozen bananas
- 1 cup ice
- 1/2 cup vanilla rice milk
(or your favourite non-dairy milk + 1/4 tsp vanilla powder) - 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1 heaped tbsp almond butter
- 1/2 – 1 scoop brown rice protein powder*
- 1 tsp coconut sugar
- Toppings
- carob nibbles
- grapes
Method
- Blend all of the ingredients until smooth.
- Transfer to a bowl and add your toppings.
*If you use a different kind let me know in the comments how it turns out. This would probably be good with vanilla or chocolate flavour protein powder, but I haven’t tried it.
Did you know….
Apparently there are 6 almonds in a table spoon of almond butter.
What’s your favourite flavour milkshake? and have you ever tried to recreate it?
Looks delicious! Will definitely keep this in mind for my vegan challenge :)!
Thanks 🙂 It’s great for any day even if you’re not trying a vegan challenge.
I know! But I’m unable to eat or drink anything at the moment besides those chemical bottles, that’s why I have to wait
Oh I see! Well this is worth waiting for 🙂

Craving for it !

Sounds delicious ☺️
We love nut-based smoothies! So creamy and delicious. We’re looking forward to trying yours. Have you ever tried adding soaked oats? It’s another great way to make it creamy and nutritious. 🙂
Thanks. Definitely give it a go. Great tip about the oats. I do use them sometimes but it’s not a regular thing. I was thinking of making a ‘blueberry pie’ smoothie using oats!!
Yeah, it depends on what else we are eating, but sometimes even oatbran makes a quick smoothie addition in our kitchen. Mmm, that sounds wonderful; we look forward to that! 🙂
