I have been walking when I was meant to be running and just ran when a car went past!!

I am a club runner and triathlete. I’ve competed at all distances, even Ironman.  For those of you that don’t know, an Ironman is a 3 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a full marathon…without stopping! You have a maximum of 17 hours in which to complete the event. It’s pretty hard-core!

But I was having a particularly rubbish run one day and I resorted to walking…except when a car went past…when I ran!  Like an athlete! Powering through my stride, abs sucked in, race-face on, hair flowing through the breeze…until the car was out of sight and I could go back to dragging my sorry ass back home.  I am hoping I am not the only person who has done this?? Please?

It doesn’t matter how fit and strong you are, everyone has bad training days! You shouldn’t beat yourself up about it.  Yes, it is disappointing when a training session doesn’t go to plan, but you should be proud of yourself for trying and being that person that put their training gear on and got themselves out of the door that day. Some exercise is better than none so whatever you did was more beneficial than sitting on the sofa eating crisps!  Plus, it’s all about how you style it out…

I justified it by telling myself that I had just done a really good interval session!”
